Delaire Graff Estate
What it is
The legendary art, garden and vineyard-stocked property of the founder of Graff Diamonds.
What it isn't
Phony. Like Graff diamonds, the art collection here is jaw-droppingly authentic, including Vladimir Tretchikoff’s Chinese Girl, painted in 1952 and reproduced en-mass ever since.
What we think
It goes without saying: jewelry kingpins like Laurence Graff have a nose for the very Best, with a capital B. No wonder, then, that his estate is a member of the illustrious Relais & Chateaux, and tricked out with everything from exquisite infinity pools overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Botmaskop Mountain to restaurants that appear to be courting Michelin stars with every Instagrammable plate. Worth pointing out: there are no guest rooms here. Everyone stays in their own lodge, replete with double-height ceilings, marble bathrooms and heated plunge pools on private terraces—i.e. Perhaps the most idyllic spot on earth for taking in the twilight, flute of bubbly in hand.
You're here because
You wouldn’t call yourself an oenophile, but you do take a shine to wine. Here, you can sample everything in the Delaire Graff winery arsenal within stumbling distance of your mega-high thread count linen-swathed bed.
The spa here is just the right size—five rooms—which means you’ll be pampered like the VIP you are. Your favorite thing about this place isn’t the constant feeling of calm you’ve felt since you entered (“aaaah…”), but knowing you’ve chosen South African-focused treatments you just won’t find back home. When it’s time for your African Myrrh body polish—with organic rooibos, coconut flakes, African myrrh, and body butter—you literally salivate. You’ve never felt more alive.
