Hotel Le Coucou
Artful Stunner
What it is
A ski-in, ski-out retreat stunningly designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, with a Tata Harper Spa, indoor pool and sauna, and five buzzing bars and restaurants ideal for après-ski.
What it isn't
Blah. Curated experiences on offer run the gamut, and range from snowmobile tracks to heliskiing to hot air balloon rides.
What we think
If Wes Anderson and Ralph Lauren coparented a ski chalet, it might turn out something like this: a storybook retreat that champions the old (blonde woods; carved furniture) with the modern and chic (saturated colors and sculptural furniture at every turn.) Guest rooms feel spacious, beginning with the 322 square foot Deluxe Room on up to a 1,054 square foot Suite Deluxe—and all are stocked with Nespresso machines, cotton satin sheets, and cloudlike Simmons mattresses. Our favorite, though, is inarguably the Prestige Junior Suite, for its built-in bed nook and box beam ceiling. The circa 1881 children’s book character Heidi would feel right at home.
You're here because
The hotel is aesthetically perfect—modern yet warm, historic yet “now.” And an indoor pool and jacuzzi are your post-ski activities of choice.
The Moment
Out on the terrace in the sun, you’re feeling the altitude. Or is that just the champagne talking? Blessedly, you think you see the cure right on the menu at Beefbar: a truffle cream and kobe beef pizza…with a side of parmesan-dusted fries.
