Courchevel, France
La Sivoliere
Ski Style
What it is
A sumptuous 35-room chalet within Courchevel 1850, with a sleek spa, cozy stone walled restaurant and bar that has its own car service for your friends.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Guests can expect V.V.I.P. treatment, including a ski room with heated sofas, gratis shuttles through town, and in-the-know concierges.
What we think
La Sivolière means “small forest,” and somehow that’s just what this luxe chalet feels like: a winter wonderland. Both modern and storied in feel, interiors are what Courchevel 1850 dreams are made of. Even the “starter” 236 square foot Superior Room is a dreamscape, with its blonde wood ceilings, velvet and faux bois touches, and amenities like Diptyque toiletries, mini bar, and video on demand (not that you’ll spend much time watching TV). Families will appreciate the Family Junior Suite for its in-room bunk beds, but our favorite room is arguably the 538 square foot One Bedroom Prestige Suite, with its separate living room complete with a fireplace and two bathrooms (one of them fitted with a tub and a hammam shower, no less).
You're here because
You’re bringing the kiddos, and the hotel is tailored to them, too, with a Kid’s Club, miniature robes and slippers, children’s menus, and welcome treats at check-in.
The Moment
From your table under a sparkling chandelier that looks a bit like fairy-dusted tree branches, you’re pinching yourself. The Black Angus rump steak carpaccio is the perfect end to the ski day you had…especially followed by the wild sea bass in champagne emulsion and pink berries. Blissful.
