What it isn't

Missing any nicety. When it comes to amenities, they’ve got it all, from chauffeured limousine service to an 131-foot-long conveyor belt that brings you from the snow into a heated ski room.

What we think

When L’Apogée enlisted boldfaced named designers India Mahdavi and Joseph Dirand to design their lodge in the uber chic ski town of Courchevel, they ensured glamour at every turn. Even the 323-square-foot “starter” Deluxe Rooms are jaw-dropping, including barrel-vaulted ceilings, woodsy plaid carpeting, and faux fur topped beds you’ll never want to get out of (though, with the en-suite Nespresso machine, you’ll be raring to hit the slopes). Wes Anderson fans may want to upgrade to a 484-square-foot Junior Suite, adorned in collegiate green leather and mustard yellow velvet upholstery. We can’t get enough of the 3,229-square-foot Penthouse, which sleeps nine and is equipped with butler service, a flickering fireplace, dining room, private hot tub on the terrace that peeps out on the adjacent mountains and valley—an ideal setting for cocktail hour as the snow languidly falls.

The Moment

Perched in your corner table at Le Comptoir de L'Apogée restaurant, the snow-capped Alps look prettier out the window before you than any mountains you’ve ever seen—so stunning, in fact, you have to pinch yourself. One thing snaps you back to reality: the scallops with preserved lemon, tomato, crispy feta and honey. Living the high life, literally.
