Villa Marie Saint Tropez
Hilltop High Life
What it is
A lush and charming 45-room retreat overlooking the sea, with a spa inspired by the French Riviera, daybed-lined al fresco lagoon pool, terrace restaurant, and bellini bar.
What it isn't
Right on the water. But at less than 10 minutes drive from the beach (and with an Instagrammable pool scene right on the premises), you won’t miss it.
What we think
The words “Saint-Tropez” alone are an entire vibe—and one that’s beautifully represented at Villa Marie, with its red terracotta roofs, canopy of pine trees and stucco arches aplenty. Guest rooms are both ornate and blessed with the region’s rustic touches (think carved wood furniture paired with exposed ceiling beams). The 279 square foot Classic Rooms are a treat, with freestanding bathtubs and airy white curtains that flutter in the breeze. To live as if you’re in a scene from “Under the Saint-Tropez Sun,” book the Junior Family Suite; its French door balcony peers out on the surrounding treetops, and it has a separate sleeping cove that allows families of four to bunk happily in its 430 square feet. Whichever option you select, expect amenities galore—including fast, free WiFi, A.C., and a tea and coffee setup to properly fuel you for the morning’s adventures.
You're here because
You like to exclusively stay in hotels that are evocative of their locales, and this has an outdoor bar that is adorned in actual shells.
As sunlight streams in the glass ceiling of the Restaurant Dolce Vita and you tuck into your caramelized mille-feuille, you realize the place fully lives up to its name: it really is the sweet life.
