Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge
What it is
Reachable solely by boat or seaplane, this pristine seasonal retreat has 25 glamping tents, fiercely local fare, and an intimate spa—all within a 600 acre biosphere reserve.
What it isn't
Blah. Activities on offer here range from archery and rock climbing to fly fishing via helicopter.
What we think
You might not expect no-holds-barred luxury within the earthy confines of UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, but you’d be wrong. This is as luxe and blissfully private as clamping getaways get. We love the 517-square-foot Waterfront Deluxe canvas tents, which overlook the Bedwell River estuary and are fitted with cast iron stoves, an adjacent private bathroom with heated floors, and adirondack chairs on the veranda tailor-made for taking in the alpine view. If you’re traveling with friends or the fam, consider the 1,238 square foot Hillside Family option, which contains two tents within its magical rainforest setting plus outdoor showers with cedar privacy screens and a deep soaking tub in the primary suite. While you’re here, a locally-inspired spa treatment is practically required; we like the Ocean Song facial with its seaweed eye compress and the Emerald Edge body exfoliation and massage with Canadian Wilderness oil. The one thing you likely won’t have during your stay here is cell service, making this a truly unplugged getaway that’s just what the doctor ordered.
You're here because
You love the pampering feeling of a topshelf all-inclusive, and that’s exactly what you’ll get here. Rates include your accommodations, meals, selected spirits and wines, spa facilities and even signature guided experiences and one 60 minute massage per stay.
You’re not sure what you’ll remember most about your dining experiences at Clayoquot…the ceviche made from just-caught fish? The organic Blue Goose beef burger? Or the fact that you never once had to reach for your wallet after a meal? This is living. v
