Pointe Milou, St. Barths
L’image de Saint-Barth
What it is
A clifftop retreat with elevated French standards, albeit relaxed by the Caribbean’s barefoot charm.
What it isn't
A tropical mega resort that offers everything to everyone nor a scene to pose for the paparazzi.
What we think
Tucked away atop a private cove on the northeastern side of St. Barths, the Hotel Christopher perfectly embodies the island’s marriage of French sophistication and the tropic’s laissez-faire attitude. The hotel’s collection of two-story, pitched-roof bungalows house bright, contemporary European-styled guest rooms that span from spacious to sprawling. Some have private patios with whirlpools while others have open air living rooms with teak lounge chairs and views of the shore and the small, outlying islands. The hotel’s Sisley spa is cut into the rocks on the shoreline, creating an incredible, Phyto-Aromatic retreat from real life. The hotel’s shoreline, alas, is not known for its swimming. The property’s coastline is rocky and rough, which makes for incredible vistas from the elevated infinity pool and the spa, but poses a problem for those that want to dive into the surf. The hotel, instead, has a man-made stretch of sand and offers guests access to the waves at beaches (Gouverneur and Saline are good bets) 10 minutes away - most of us find the pool deck to be more than enough, though.
You're here because
You want something that exemplifies all of St. Barth’s best sides: sophisticated and fashionable, but unpretentious and wonderfully laid back. Add Hotel Christopher’s seclusion and epic views and the package is complete.
Sprawled on the oversized teak lounge chair, you tilt your head back and lower your book as you see footsteps approach. From under your chapeau’s brim, a smiling server has brought over your chilled cocktail and calamari.
Restaurants & Bars
Taino Restaurant - Fine cuisine, inspired by numerous travels of the Chef Jean Baptiste Piard
Mango Restaurant - Provides delicious cocktails and a light & tasty cuisine
The concierge will swiftly arrange snorkeling, scuba diving or sailing excursions, but leaving the tucked away grounds isn’t all that necessary. Though, Gustavia and St. Jean are under 15 minutes away by car if you need some nightlife. Christopher Hotel is just under a 15 minute drive (via complimentary transfer courtesy of the hotel) from the Gustav III Airport.
