Rosewood Abu Dhabi
The High Life
What it is
A 189-room curved tower on the Gulf that has it all, literally—including showstopping rooms, an over-the-top spa, and an al fresco pool flanked by palm trees and sky-high sculptures.
What it isn't
Thirsty (or for that matter, hungry). The resort has eight on-site restaurants, including the dimly lit Dragon’s Tooth speakeasy and waterside Hidden Bar, set on the water and renowned for its 200-bottle deep gin library.
What we think
“Palatial” only begins to describe the feeling of this 34-story high-rise resort, where your every need is met right on the premises. Sense, a Rosewood Spa, literally gleams, and has the most pampering treatments around (including diamond facials and locally inspired massages with a downright biblical oil infused with frankincense and Oud). One of the resort’s eateries, Glo, straddles the buzzing pool and serves up fire-roasted comfort food (smoked chicken; short ribs with truffle fries). So it should come as no surprise the guest rooms are just as expertly planned, with roomy footprints (starting at 452-square-feet) and plush amenities: iPad’s that control everything from the curtains to the temperature; rain showers and deep soaking tubs in the marble-lined bathrooms; Nespresso machines; and the softest possible robes and slippers for lounging the day away. Twice daily housekeeping is included, and staff are delighted to provide evening turndown—all you have to do is ask.
You're here because
They roll out the proverbial red carpet for littles with their Rosewood Explorers program; children can learn everything from yoga to calligraphy.
The Moment
You never imagined you’d be riding a camel to an Arabic camp on the sand dunes for dinner. But tonight, at dusk, that’s just what you’re doing, thanks to the resort’s Desert Safari Excursion. That the fireside meal is the best you’ve ever had is just a bonus.
