What it is
A stylish 38-room retreat with a seasonal ice rink, lawn games, and a hopping locavore restaurant with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the fire pits and mountains beyond.
What it isn't
Boring. Staffers have curated a multitude of FOMO-worthy events on the premises, ranging from wreath making workshops with local artisans to disco dinner parties.
What we think
New Yorkers expect a lot from their hotels. Even more from hotels they rent a car and schlep to. Scribner’s Catskill Lodge has wowed flurries of urbanites since it emerged from a hip renovation a few years ago; rooms are chic and Instagrammable, many with private balconies and wood fireplaces that allow you to live your best Catskills life. Our favorite room option might be the Summit King with Loft, which has a 500 square foot floor plan, 100 square foot terrace, terra cotta tiled rain shower, and floor to ceiling glass windows that peer out on the Catskill Mountains. Coming soon: 11 round cabins, fittingly called The Rounds, which will each be fitted with al fresco soaking tubs and a stargazing oculus.
