Montego Bay, Jamaica
Round Hill Hotel And Villas
Country club casual mingling in Montego Bay
What it is
A stylishly preppy estate on perfect Jamaican sand.
What it isn't
An example of Jamaica’s chill, rasta side nor a buzzy beach retreat.
What we think
Round Hill Hotel has been entertaining the glamorous upper crust since the 1950s—think JFK and Jackie O. Strung along 110 acres of picture-perfect Montego Bay, the collection of cottages is a top choice for anyone seeking a luxe, family-friendly getaway. Casual elegance defines the property—from the superb staff to the country club amenities to the classic, refined style. Ralph Lauren, who owns a private villa here, had a hand in designing the rooms and suites—the plantation style decor in the 124 rooms follows his trademark style: handsome, casual, preppy. The villas do have elements that remind you that you’re in the Caribbean—bright pops of color, wooden ceiling fans, rattan armchairs—but the style is less island chill and more polo match. It’s important to note that while all the nooks and crannies are in line and the sheets ironed, the place isn’t stuffy or uptight. It’s quite the opposite, actually; the staff exemplifies the warm Caribbean friendliness.
You're here because
You’re here because you're looking to step back to a time where the people were elegant and perfectly pressed, where dinner parties had crystal glassware, polished shakers and no trace of poor manners.
Strolling along the neatly edged path, you pass one of the many gardeners. He looks up from the flowerbed he’s been pruning and reminds you the tour of the rare orchid gardens will be starting soon.
The resort is about a half an hour’s drive from Montego Bay’s international airport.
