Lake Placid Lodge

Opal Collection

What it is

A 30-room lodge with inimitable Adirondack decor; two farm-to-table restaurants and a packed pub; and an abundant activities list. You’ll never be bored.

What it isn't

Equipped with a pool. Who needs one? The mountain fresh waters of Lake Placid are just beyond your door, and you can swim off the dock in season.

What we think

If Ralph Lauren were reincarnated as an Adirondack Great Camp, he’d be this. Each and every room at Lake Placid Lodge is a fairytale sprung to life: a rustic fever dream of felled logs and fallen antlers transformed into jaw-dropping furniture. There are no bad rooms here; the “starter” option is a ginormous 500 square feet, with wood paneled walls, a flickering stone fireplace, deep soaking tub, and balcony that peers out on the lake and 4,867’-high Whiteface Mountain. We have no doubt Ralph himself would book a One Bedroom King Cabin Lake View; custom-furnished by local Adirondack furniture pros, they have exposed beam walls, a wood burning fireplace in the living room and prime panoramas of the water throughout their up to 700-square-foot floor plans. Of course, you’re not here to stay ensconced in your room, and why would you? Exploits include champagne cruises on their mahogany boat; tennis at the Whiteface Club; fishing for rainbow trout; hiking and horseback riding thousands of miles of trails; and so much more.

You're here because

You love your fur bebe. The lodge welcomes dogs up to 30 pounds, for a fee, and rolls out the chew-proof carpet with loaner beds, dental chews, and more.

The Moment

The lodge’s top shelf restaurant, Artisans, is everything you could have dreamt of, with menu items as locally sourced as they come. Sitting overlooking Whiteface Mountain, the only thing more toothsome than the view are these seared scallops from the Gulf of Maine served with lobster tomato risotto and a citrus beurre blanc.

Restaurants & Bars

Artisans - offers fresh, seasonally inspired cuisine for breakfast and dinner

Maggie's Pub - classic wood-paneled pub offering drinks and pub-style fare
