What we think

Embracing classic architecture is all but required in a town like Boston, founded in 1630. After all, the mark of history can be found on every other corner. What we love most about Boston Harbor Hotel is that it embraces that classicism—with its limestone and granite facade and NeoClassical touches (like that iconic archway) by Cambridge Seven Associates—yet also has the technology and thoroughly modern in-room amenities that today’s glitterati demand. Every room is ginormous, beginning with the 500 square foot Superior Room, and all are equipped with loaner in-room tablets; Nespresso machines; fast, free wifi; Diptyque toiletries; and expansive picture windows with either city or glimmering harbor views. Our go-to rooms are the Premier Rooms, though, for their fully separate living space, deep soaking tub and rainfall shower, plus a cherry and oak wood work desk for envy-inducing Zoom calls.

The Moment

The design of Rowes Wharf Sea Grille is vaguely nautical. You feel a bit like you’re on a yacht, without any chance of sea sickness. But it’s the menu that feels fresh as the salty sea air: the Maine crab cocktail with meyer lemon mayonnaise; the Mattapoisett oyster rockefeller with fried garlic crunch butter. Seaworthy, indeed.
